Default Sony DT 50mm AF f/1.8 SAM (SAL-50F18)

I've Sony DT 50mm AF f/1.8 SAM (SAL-50F18) on my A230 and I am experiencing slight shift in pictures. the original picture is slightly to the left of what I see in the view finder and this problem is really frustrating when I am taking closeup of faces etc.

Also, I've tried my SONY 18-55mm and SIGMA 17-200mm on the camera for the same position and they seem to capture what view finder is showing.

Anyone please help me if there is any possibility of getting rid of this issue or if this lens has in-born problem of shifting the image to the left.

Anxiously waiting for your help.

PS: like the lens but this issue puts me off

Do us a favour: set the camera on a tripod. Take one shot with the 50mm lens and another with the 18-200 set to 50mm.

Also try using the live view and see what it looks like. Very strange.

OK. apologies for my mis-understanding. all the lenses on the same body are shifting to the left. please refer to the pictures I've uploaded on Flickr.

2 - Sony 50 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!
2 - Sigma 18-200 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

in the pictures;
1, there was no green sheet on the left in the VF and
2, there was a table corner on the right side.
now disappearance of the table and appearance of the green sheet tell me that the picture is shifted to the left.

please advise me.

thnx and regards.

now it seems that the problem is with the camera itself and not with the lenses. Any suggestions please????

aslo there is no live view but only a view finder on this model so I really cant check.

Exclamation Return the camera

I believe your anti-shake system is defective and locked out of center position.

This camera needs repair ... or have it exchanged, if it is new enough. If it is too late for an in-store exchange and still under a year since you purchased it, call or write SONY Support (<- click here). Use the SONY Style website as your source for phone numbers and addresses.

Good luck with this .. and do it, today.

I've uploaded two more pictures with the description further to my query and may help you guys to understand my issue better.

PS: the shift is larger when focused on far object.

apart from shift of the camera to left side, I am experiencing black corners on the lower and upper left corners (also visible in the pictures) from SIGMA 18-200mm and this particular issue gets worse when the lens is set at 18, 19 or 20mm....

I'd appreciate if someone please help me on both the issues.

Send the body back. It's defective.

If you are going to go to the store, see if they have ANOTHER a230 in stock ... and shoot against it, using the same lens. That should give you all you need to know if you truly have an issue. Side-by-sides are an excellent way to determine not only the relatively quality of things, but a terrific troubleshooting aid, to boot.

Good luck ... and be quick about it. You need good working equipment.
