Default Random B&Ws for Jim, Mike & Paul

Despite being a lover of all things bright & colorful, I've recently become a B&W convert with regards to my own pics (I've always liked other folks' B&Ws, just never really thought of converting my own) - especially under the influence of B&W fans here, in particular Jim, Mike & Paul.

Anyway, Jim has been waiting for me to share some B&Ws, so here are a few for now:

This past Sunday I followed up my Fenway wanderings with a wee stroll along the banks of the Charles River:

Charles Riv

Last holiday weekend I hung out in Harvard Square one afternoon:

Taken last weekend on my VT road trip. The grounds of the poet Robert Frost's house, in the town of Bennington:

Summer seems like a distant & cruel memory now, but it definitely happens in New England each year, if only for a short time! This was taken in July after my local baseball team, the Worcester Tornadoes, won their Sunday afternoon game.

Nicely done. I especially like your third, for its strong composition.

I agree with Mike and would add that all of the chairs on the lawn and the lines along all of the windows is also a strong contrasting composition between architectural order and the randomness of the chairs.

It was worth the wait, Nicky! Well done!! I love the boats, and that tree with the shadow is awesome!! the empty chairs shot is really cool too. I like the buildings in the back with all the windows! Nicely done!! See? All that glitters might be shades of gray, too!!

Very nice B/Ws. I really like the compositon with the random chairs on the lawn on the second one. The shadow of the tree on the third shot is nice!

Hey Nicky. I am feeling a little honoured by this post (for being a B&W freak!) LOL. Love the shots, but I have to say my fav is the first one. I have always loved boating, and I love the composition and the reflections in the water in this shot. Thanks for thinking about me, Nicky. That was a very thoughtful thing to do. Cheers.

Thanks as always for the comments everyone! There are many reasons I enjoy lurking here, & one of them is just to get inspired by everyone else's favorite things-to-do. I have numerous pics that I've taken over the years where lighting wasn't optimal, & I ended up sad that the great scene or thing I'd photographed just didn't seem to have been done justice - but now some have been rescued by B&W conversion! Every day is a schoolday.

Nice work Nicky. I like them all but, I'll have to agree with Mike on the third one.
