Default Flowers and droplets

For my birthday I got an Orbis ring flash attachment

This was the first shot I took using it... well, first after just trying out a few quick snaps to see how I needed to hold it to make it fire. You can clearly see the rings reflected in the drops.

Ring drops (by -Nicole-)

And just another one that I happened to like.

Drip... Drip... Drip... (by -Nicole-)

It makes lighting macro shots much nicer... not necessarily easier yet, but the lighting is much nicer and much more even. I'm really looking forward to trying this out on other subjects and portraits. Should be fun when I learn how to use it better.

Thanks Hayward. Yes, it was a very nice gift to get, definitely has some uses. Although I'm betting that the boyfriend will regret getting it for me when I talk him into being the model for the portrait shots.

Thanks Bernz, I'm looking forward to playing with a lot more shots with this and with extra lighting... the birthday gift to myself was a second SB-600

New gear definitely makes a birthday better! And thanks I have a feeling this new gear will result in a lot more shots and get me into doing more outside of landscapes.

Thanks Vin. The even light was what I was most impressed with myself.

One of the fun things I saw a while ago was a post on putting modifier on the ring light to create a circle of star catchlights: Create Stunning Stars In Your Eyes With a DIY Ring Light | DIYPhotography.net Those shots are just wild and I can't wait to try something like that.
