Thanks for taking us along on the journey. I'm afraid that I've only gotten the two week tour of Australia so 52 weeks will be great! It's a really nice shot of your family, I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time. I can't wait to see what shots the rest of the year brings.

Ah, now I can enjoy the trip a little more knowing my hosts. That sunshine is making feel so warm (not to say jealous) given that it has snowed evry day here for the last 14 days, with the warmest day reaching 2 degrees and the coldest minus 23. This is going to be one great year Jill on the trip with you and..... er...., well, are we allowed to know their names??? See you on next leg, and thankyou for taking me along with you. Oh, oh, what's that I see on the roadside, not another flower!!!!!!! PAUL

Jill, how envious I am of your trip. It looks like a lot of fun. If I can pick something to do for the rest of my life it will be being a tour guide. I bet Australia is a lot different that where I come from. I was a tour guide in the Amazon, Venezuela from 13 years old to about 22. I met my wife down there. I was her tour guide. Enjoy your expedition.

Great to hear from you all and have you along. I am really looking forward to showing you my state in pictures and words. There is so much to show you it is difficult to select only a few photos for each leg!
Here is the rest of the index! Ran out of character room in the list above! Week 42 - Week 42/52-Tour West Australia - Windjana sunset Week 42, part 2 - Week 42/52-Part 2-Tour West Australia - Tunnel Creek, it's dark, bring your flashligh Week 43 - Week 43/52 Tour WestAustralia - the end of the dirt Actually Week 44! - Week 41/52-Tour WestAustralia- reefs, beaches & canyons - Ningaloo Week 45 - Week 45/52-Tour WestAustralia - I'd like to be beside the sea side.... Week 46 - Week 46/52-Tour West Australia-wading with dolphins Week 47 - Week 47/52 - Tour WestAustralia - driving and history Week 48 - Week 48/52-Tour WestAustralia - tramping through Kwongan & rocks Week 49 - Week 49/52 - Tour WestAustralia - Gold fever! and the need for water. Week 50 - Week 50/52- Tour West Australia - Kalgoorlie-history written in gold Week 51 - Week 51/52 - Tour Western Australia - red dirt and gold fields Week 52 - Week 52/52 -Tour Western Australia - and onwards to the border.. Over the last couple of years Rod & I, and son Mark, have covered quite a bit of the state, so some of the photos will be new as we go along, some will be taken in the last couple of years - so I hope you understand.... WA is a HUGE state!! - almost half of the continent of Australia. When I decided to do a 52 week project, I thought about all the wonderful photos I had seen on DPS from people all over the world since I had joined, and I decided I wanted to share my corner of the world, Western Australia with you. I live in a truly remarkable state where you can go from oceans, to mountains, streams and gorges, rolling hills and deserts. We have it all. And I love every part of its infinite beauty. As much as I would like to take a year off work and go touring - that might have to wait till I retire. Western Australia is huge, and as I thought about how I could possibly bring this tour to you, I realised that I had seen a lot of my State over the last few years. So I wrote down a plan of how to travel around my State in a logical manner, starting from our capital Perth, then travelling south, then through the middle to the north and back down the coast. To cover all this ground would indeed take many months. So the photos you will see are not all new, but 90% of them have been taken in the last few years. The Kimberley leg for instance were all taken during our trip in 2009. So some photos are from my archives of thousands of photos, and some are new this year as I travel to places new to me, or I have revisited some places to bring you new photos. So I thank you for your understanding. And I hope you enjoy the ride as I take you around Western Australia. If you have missed any of the threads so far, catch up with them in the links below the first photo in this thread. See you all in Mandurah on the next leg! Happy travelling!
