Default Tour 2010 - Welcome to Western Australia! - coming for a drive?

Hi everyone, I have seen various people posting their personal challenges for 2010. And I know there is no way that I would be able to do 365 posts in 365 days.

So.... I have come up with my own challenge - I "think" some of you have been enjoying my photos around Western Australia - so I thought I would give you a tour over 52 weeks to show you some spectacular parts of the huge state I live in - 1 post a week for 52 weeks.

Ready to hop on board for a 52 week snap shot of the State? Then jump on - I'm ready if you are! I hope you will enjoy it as much as I will bringing it to you.

Welcome to Western Australia! (this was taken on the boarder between Western Australia and Northern Territory)

Here we are flying into WA's capital city, Perth. As you can see Perth is beautifully situated on the Swan River. (not the best or clearest photo but it was taken from a plane through scratchy windows!) That's the Indian Ocean you can see in the background.

For tourists, one of the best places to see Perth's skyline is from Kings Park. Here is a view over the City and the Swan River. Kings Park is a huge botanical garden with plants from all around the world, walking paths, historical memorials, grass for picnics, children's playgrounds,, restaurants, etc and of curse views of Perth. It is really beautiful and an outstanding feature in the heart of Perth.

And here we have our State War Memorial in Kings Park with the backdrop of the City. This is where our major Anzac Day ceremony is held on 25 April to remember those who have lost their lives in wars. This is also where the "Eternal Flame" burns.

If these are a representation of what is to come, I can`t wait. Nice to see some sunny pictures instead of the ice and snow we have here.

Oh Yes Jill. I am on board and excited. If I can't have the real thing then this will do fine. I am loving the scenery already. See you next week. PAUL

Great pics Jill, I love strong colours & contrast and you seem to capture this in a lot of your pictures (except for the one from the plane window of course).

Speaking of contrast, I have a great plug-in for Photoshop called Contrast Master. I took the liberty of putting your plane photo through it to see how it came up. I have attached it for you to check out.

Cheers,

Gerard

Gerard, I fiddled a bit with the levels in this one, and straightened the horizon (LOL) but what you have done has helped quite considerably - thanks!

I'm on board Jill let's go. Great idea and a great start. I love them all especially the lovely contrast with the lovely blue sky in the last one. I hope I can stay for the full journey.. Thanks for the invite and for sharing the trip with us.

A fabulous idea Jill! And thanks for sharing with us. Love these bright, sunny views. My favourite thing about DPS is making great friends, but my 2nd favourite is seeing new places.
