Love the water drops on the windshield.

Day 25 | One year photo

Coptic Pope Shenouda III. Live to the world. \\ 25 of 365

On January 25, 2011, the Egyptian citizens' uprising against the Mubarak government started. On the one year anniversary of that event, the leader of the Coptic church, Pope Shenouda III, was in our studio in Cleveland. I had the honor of pushing out a live feed of his weekly address to his followers across the globe. It was pretty cool to think about all the technology involved.

I shot this image during the broadcast. I had the eyepiece flipped up on my NEX FS100, and thought it would be cool to see the image coming through the camera, as well as the distorted image through the reversed viewfinder. I like the effect.

Ran the image though Instagram, using the Valencia filter.

Day 26 | One year photo (one of Ana's)

Guitar \\ 26 of 365

The Center For Creative Arts has a “Rock and Roll Hall of Fame” theme when you enter the building. It sticks with the whole dark red accent colors and dark photos on the wall, but it adds some visual aids. Two large guitars, to be specific.

I took this picture with my point-and-shoot as quickly as I could on my way out of the building, so I’m surprised it came out as well as it did. I liked the reflection and coloring, but I couldn’t get the crop right so that happened in post. A little de-noising and boost of the contrast also helped.

Day 27 | One year photo

His & hers \\ 27 of 365

It was an eventful Thursday. I went to my usual morning meeting, and as I was heading to lunch, Ana sent me a text saying her car was dead. Luckily, it got her to work before it gave up, but it wasn't going to be making the trip again. We spent the evening at Sunnyside Honda, and left with a new, black Civic around 9 p.m.

So now we have matching cars. I liked the sort of monochromatic neutrals, punctuated by the red taillights.

[as an aside, I was amazed at how bad the image quality on Ana's BlackBerry was]

Rooibos \\ 28 of 365

We met a friend at Caribou Coffee, and hung out there for a while. They have a delicious cinnamon rooibos, which you see here. It's a lovely deep earthy red color, and I liked the fine detail in the tea bag. I'm consistently amazed with the iPhone's image quality. Under the right circumstances , it's better than a point-and-shoot.

Day 29 | One year photo

We had a sudden, 20-minute white out Sunday. I just looked up and couldn't really see much out the window. Grabbed this shot with my iPhone and Instagram (Amaro filter). The weather cleared just as quickly as it started.

Candy Cane from Jamie De Pould on Vimeo.

Our first video clip!

From a project I'm currently working on at work. Porter Lyons is an 18-year-old high school senior who went into sudden heart failure Christmas Eve, and received a transplant New Years Eve. The story has already gotten some media coverage. I'm working on a multi-part web series to launch in the next month or so.

Shot on my Sony NEX FS100 with a Nikon 50mm f/1.4G.

I just loved the bright red of the candy cane. I did some toning in AfterEffects: bumped up the contrast with curves and levels, and added a slight vignette.

Day 31 | One year photo

Tiny Tabasco \\ 31 of 365

I’ve never seen a bottle of Tabasco this small. I ordered a burger at lunch, and I got a plate full of mini-condiments. I swiped the Tabasco, and it’s on my desk now.

iPhone + Instagram (Hefe filter).

Cookies \\ 32 of 365

I went and got my hair cut Wednesday evening, and while I was gone Ana baked cookies! She timed it perfectly, they were ready right when I got home. The Panasonic kind of let us down here, but I think the reflections in the oven glass are still interesting.

Coins \\ 33 of 365

I hate coins. They drive me insane. Somehow, I managed to acquire nearly $2 in change. In one afternoon. I did use them to make fun geometric shapes for the picture today though. Just shot it with my iPhone, nothing crazy.

Day 34 | One year photo

Capote \\ 34 of 365

Ana and I instituted Friday night movie night. So far, it's been a wonderful decision. We've been able to watch some stuff we've been meaning to watch for a while--and which has been clogging up our Netflix queue for ... a long time.

This week the selection was Capote, which was a new one for Ana. We projected it on the wall above our fire place, and I decided to grab the D700 (plus 45mm pancake, fun little lens) and shoot the very last scene before the credits roll.

Saturday project. \\ 35 of 365

Saturday projects around the house can be fun. We're still finishing the whole moving process, and we decided it would be nice to have some art hanging on the walls. We aren't nearly finished, but I did get a start on it. Three prints (two of them are mine) in the kitchen and office. I even managed to get the track lights in the kitchen to hit the pictures perfectly.

The Wrigley Field one in the foreground here isn't mine. I picked it up from Metroscap of Columbus during a Short North gallery hop when I was an undergrad. The coffee in the background is from my 2007 trip to Vienna and Salzburg.

I'm in the process of going through pretty much all of my photos to figure out what else I want to print/hang, which is quite a daunting task.

Day 36 | One year photo

Lemon chicken \\ 36 of 365

I have to start adding the date to these so I can keep it all straight: Feb. 5, 2012.

We tried a new (sort of) recipe today: lemon chicken and pasta. We’ve done chicken picatta before, but this was another variation. It turned out pretty well.

We were having some fun with the D300 while cooking. I really liked the neutral black-and-silver background. The red accents on the tongs, and the yellow and green sauce really jump out. The motion blur adds a little bit more visual interest and action. I also liked the way the stainless steel picked up some of the highlights without being super reflective.
