Hi everyone, this week is in two parts, and this is part 2 of week 6 of our 52 week tour of Western Australia. Tonight we travel on southwards from Busselton along the coast to Dunsborough, Meelup and Cape Naturaliste.
The Meelup and beaches of the Cape to Cape region are some of the most beautiful in Western Australia. Only a couple of hours from our capital city Perth, this region has been a summer holiday destination for years for young people, surfies, couples and families. It is also a mecca for "sea changers" and artisans. Meelup has lots of little bays and beautiful clear blue water perfect for snorkelling - what better way to spend a summers day. The main Meelup Beach is very popular with families as it is a safe beach for children and their is a shaded grassed area perfect for a picnic. There are also walk trails.
Below you see the Cape Naturaliste lighthouse, which is at the start of the Cape to Cape walk trail which winds for 135 kilometres south along the coast between Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin. Of course you don't have to do the full Cape to Cape track. There are plenty of day walks, and walking guide books devoted to the entire Cape to Cape region. Around Cape Naturaliste itself are several walks and a viewing platform for seal and whale watching.
A view from the Cape to Cape trail - this is looking southwards towards Sugar Loaf Rock.
I hope to bring you some wildflower photos from the Cape to Cape track once a few of you have replied to this post. I look forward to hearing from you! Hi Jill! Those are beautiful looking beaches. But I have a question - what are sea changers?

Absolutely stunning scenery Jill, and given we have minus 3 degrees C today and a bitterly cold wind, this is a most welcome trip. Thank you so much, and yes, Martha beat me to it. What are sea changers?

Hi everyone, thanks for looking and for your comments. I love having you along.
"Sea changers" are people who give up their hectic corporate or working life, usually in the city, and change their lifestyle by moving somewhere to live a slower paced lifestyle, ie near the sea or to the country, and do what they really want to do by perhaps indulging their passion - ie painting, photography, pottery, writing, farming, wine making etc etc We say they have made a "sea change". I know someone who was a legal secretary in Perth and now has an art studio in Ferguson Valley, and a guy who sold real estate and now forges iron into wonderful artwork etc. I am sure they are all over the world - ie like people in the UK buying a villa in Tuscany or France and growing grapes, or whatever they do............

I want to be a sea changer! I don't think we have a word for that - maybe mid-life crisis? HAHA. I only say that because I have a birthday coming up
![]() Beautiful flowers - I really like the first one. It is very unusual and friendly looking.
