Default Yes it's an HDR. No, I don't mind of you don't like it.

Hi, so this is my first critique request ever, and I'd like to share an HDR shot that I made of the National Portrait Gallery in London. Personally, I like it, as it's better than my other attempts at HDR (which won't be being posted here :P) but I'd like to hear if anybody has a point or two to make about it.

Are the columns in the centre a bit too overblown do ya reckon? That's my only quibble with it.

As you might have guessed, I quite like photographing buildings, so any tips on shooting them in general would be appreciated too!

Thanks!

I'd clone in a dramatic sky... the one right now doesn't seem to fit very well with the over all dark look of the building.

Seems a little too dark overall, from the sky to the building itself. I like it overall, but think it can be more dramatic if it was a bit less dark.

Thanks, I'll give it a go! I think I have a suitable sky from another shot I can use!

The building is quite dirty :P But yeah, I see what you mean. I'll have a tinker

The building is leaning from bottom to top and the sides lean in. This can be fixed in Photoshop. It will make all the vertical lines vertical. I forget where.

Wouldn't in that in this case give the impression that the camera was higher than it was in the photo? Thus making the tower look odd at the top of the photograph? Its generally something I do in my photographs but I'm wondering if it would look right on this one?

IMO, I think it's an awesome shot! I love it! True, the sky could be cropped out and a darker sky put in but, to me, I like it either way. Nice shot!

I like it, it's subtle. I do agree that the sky is a little dull and detracts from it overall a bit, and the columns seem to stand out too much to my eye. I really like how the gold lettering comes out, I've got a similar shot of the Bank of England building in my photostream.

I don't think so. Try it and see. If you don't mind, I could give it a go. Go to filter>distort>lens correction. I think that's it.

20100125113944_national portrait copy straightened

I tried it quickly and came up with this. I had to crop a bit at the sides. I don't know if the photo is still what you had in mind but anyway, you get the idea.
