Default My first post

I'm very new to photography, i recieved my canon xsi a few months ago. I don't really know what to specifically ask for you to critique so I guess just tell me anything about my photo. I'd really appreciate the help.

I would personalty say that the subject should be to the far right of the image and that the background should be a little more out of focus. I like the skin tones and the darkened area to the subjects right cheek. The door in the background is distracting so that's why i think if the subject was sitting directly in front of the door and the background to the left was more dominant it could have told more of a story or at least suggested a scenario.

Good colours and decent composition.

Yeah, i agree with you about the door being distracting and the background needing to be more out of focus. I only took this photo to see if i had set the right aperture and shutter speed for him (he wanted to use my camera). I ended up liking his expression though and kept it despite the distracting background. Thanks a lot though, I really appreciate the constructive criticism :]
