Default Does this work - sunset and building blended

HI,

My new years resolution - to get some feedback of my shots.

I took these images close to home and blended them in elements. This is my first attempt at blending a sky with another shot. The abbey was taken in the snow so the colours were pretty much monochrome anyway but the sky was a bit flat.

The building is Haughmond Abby in Shrewsbury.

There are a few things I would like to know:

Does the image work, composition, B&W building with colour sky?
Is the blend okay?

Many thanks
Dave

The details of the shots are:
Canon 450D, Sigma 18-200mm
Sunset: f13.0, ISO100, 1/250, AV-2
Abbey: f9.0, ISO100, 1/15, polarising filter
PP: elements, desaturated Abbey in raw

Hey that's very cool. The lighting on the walls vs the sky is a tell that it is a composite but what a wickedly surreal shot! It works for me - suitable for framing!

Great image. Might consider punching up the highlights on the walls a little more. But otherewise, moody, interesting and very eye catching.

That's a very appealing shot. The blending of the sky looks fine to me. The composition looks great with the lines of the sky leading right to the building. I would suggest lightening the front face of the building a bit to help highlight it as the image's point of interest.

As Zona5101 pointed out, the direction of the light on architecture and the sky is different, which gives it away immediately. One way to try and hide this would be warm up the architecture and foreground so that it has the same warm tone as the sky.

I love this. Yes it looks like a composite, but I think that works very well here. Remember that photography can never represent reality - even if one doesn't ps the image, you are seeing someone's view of the world - not reality.

This photo may not be 'real', but it works wonderfully
