Default My First HDR

This is my first HDR attempt using Photomatix. I think it will take some time to get use to the program. Does my tone mapping look good?

I really like the sillouette of the trees on the hill. But, I am not totally sold on the colors in the sky. Maybe a more orange tone to go along with the colors i the bushes

Default Nice location and subject

This is a Good place to and time to use HDR... However I feel you might have actually done a +1 and +2 for this unless you were really going to the Darkened Tree.

I like the detail in it however, it has a totally different mood. It now looks very HDR and not like an underexposed shot. Remember with HDR you ware capturing all levels of light if you stick to the -2 -1 0 you are missing all of the shadow detail (Tree bark) which you see in your second shot. I would work with is some more and add some more contrast to the sky like mentioned earlier.
here is a good video tutorial on working with levels in Photoshop to get a lot more out of your HDR images... I use photomatix to get the basic tonemapping then Photoshop for the rest of the color/contrast... editing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RzemTX_DuP

I do love the Composition of this shot

Also This might make a stunning high contrast B&W image... Just a thought

I am by no means a professional so this is just my suggestions ultimately your are your best judge of what your are looking for and what your style is

Default My two cents...

The sky just does not work. too much grey and a lack of brilliance in the colors.

The composition is good but i think I would darken the grass/hill and add some reflection to the branches of the trees and try oversaturatin just the ends of the branches.

The sky needs some color filter work to getthe right tones...

Rendering an HDR can often lead to other digital manipulations to get the right effect.

In the end it's what pleases your eye that you must consider and teh style of HDR your trying to render...

As I said initially just my two cents worth ... keep practicing HDR and tone mapped photography is a lot of fun.
