Default Zany Zebra technique...what do you think?

Animals as Art

Would love to know your opinions on this technique I found on PSE6. Took a zebra photo, taken in the wild in the Maasai Mara. Changed it to B/W then using the Curves option, made a sort of W shape, instead of the usual S curve. This caused some quite dramatic looking effects. I then added an new hue/sat layer and changed the hue to a colour I liked. Flattened the image and voila! I think this can also be achieved using the Solarization option, but I just found this way of processing by accident really. Is it quite arty or do you hate it? Would love to know your thoughts and critiques on this one

This would look great printed on metallic paper. I like the processing for this image.

Although I can appreciate the work and time that went into this image, I’m not sure its right for the subject matter. Maybe it works for an urban looking rockbands album cover, or other heavy themed subjects but I don’t get it for zibra’s. Just my 20p’s worth.

Thanks all for your comments. I chose the zebra as the solirazation technique seems to work best on photos with a lot of white in them. I wanted to do something different with my usual wildlife shots and its great to know your differing thoughts. Please do keep them comming!
