Default Vintage pasta machine

This is a very old pasta machine that my father and I still use regularly at our Italian restaurant that we have owned for 23 years.

I Camera: Nikon D40
Exposure: 20
Aperture: f/5.6
Focal Length: 28 mm
ISO Speed: 200

From the one file i made 6 copies adjusting the EV from -3 to +3, then used Photomatix to generate an HDR image. Made the appropriate adjustments then opened it in Lightroom to give it that antique feel.

does it feel too processed? not enough? any suggestions please! im very new to photography and any little bit will help, Thanks!

please check out my flickr site too, any comments good/bad will be greatly appreciated Flickr: cbells' Photostream

I find it to be too dark. The left side of the image draws my attention due to it being so dark. I would have maybe cropped it in a bit to eliminate that part. I am also thinking that a straight black and white would be more interesting because of the silver surfaces. I think the negative space at the top doesn't help instead it hurts.

for me it is that there is so much to look at in the picture that my eye looks at nothing. there also seems to be too much space around the machine. it's off center, but not in an interesting sort of way. i like the colors though.
