Default Cinema Effect

Hi,

I have been trying to achieve a movie effect in my street photography shots. I have processed this picture hoping to achieve that mood. Do you think it works? What more would you have done to get a movie mood into this picture (Imagine taking a still out of a movie - that's the effect I want).

Curiosity!

-Vikram.

I've come back to the several times trying to figure out what to say. You mentioned getting a still out of a movie but that could be just about any look ever created.
I like the tones you did and the clarity and dof are, inmy opinion, spot on.
The look at the gals face, along with the crowd around her tell many a story, so I suppose in a way, yes you did acheive the look you were going for!

I really like this... I think you have achieved your goal perfectly. I can imagine this being used for some form of ad campaign with her expression.

However, and this is personal choice, I find the text distracting and you should move it onto the border if you are going to keep text on it.

i think u did what you were trying to perfectly, looks just like a street scene out of a movie , i dont find the text to be distracting simply because its relatively small, light, and in a corner away from the subject.

Default Cinematic Effect

I really like your photo and especially her expression, it's a great shot! I also agree with Windrider that it really depends on what type of movie you are going for since there are so many different styles.

However, for my personal taste, I think that a lot of current movies have a much more saturated style to them and are generally very heavy on the complementary colors of red-orange and blue-green in order to not only complement itself, but also to be able to saturate skin tones as much as possible while still keeping them realistic.

Here is my take on your photo, if you want me to take it down, let me know and I'll be glad to:

Cinema Effect

I copied the original and changed the duplicate layer to multiply and changed the opacity down to 15% just to add a bit more depth and contrast.
Then I made three different color balance layers and played with the levels boosting the highlights on each to up about 25 towards red and down about 7 towards magenta and taking the shadows in the opposite way about plus 15 each towards green and also up towards blue and down towards cyan and then just played with the midtones a bit until I liked how it looked.

I'm sure there are a lot of different ways to get this effect, but that's how I did it.
