Default HDR crash

This is my third HDR try, i would like to know what i can do to improve on this technique. I have yet to figure out what style i like best. I took this shot with AEB of +/-2 and ued qtpfsgui for the hdr and tonemapping. The EXIF files are gone.

OOPS!!!!!

Thank you in advance,

Personally, I find that this is a very overdone HDR. It doesn't look realistic at all -- which may or may not have been your intent -- but rather the awkward colors and tones hurt my eyes. The problem is in the abundance of brown-orange tones, plus the "glowing" colors (browns and oranges).

Personally, I would very much have preferred to see something more natural. What does going HDR do for this photo?

I rather like this. True it doesn't look realistic but I think the muted and sombre tones suit the subject matter. Nice work Martin!

I like this shot too. No, it doesn't look realistic at all. But that's OK. This treatment makes it look more like a painting than a photo. While obviously HDR, I think that it seems somewhat muted compared to some of the extreme HDRs out there. I'm sort of surprised by the comments about "glowing colors."

One thing that I could do without is the overhanging branches at the top of the frame as they appear to cover the plane's tail.

This is another one of those that I think could be so sweet if it wasnt in hdr. It isnt too out of control, like most people do them these days, but I still think itd look better regular.

Nice HDR, not overdone. But for a subject like this, i'd prefer it in bnw or sepia..

Thank you all for taking the time to comment. i am taking your input into consideration and will try to improve on my HDR.

Dcclark, I very much apreciate your comment even though you don`t like it. it is good to have the other side of the mirror and different views are important. I just don`t understand what you meant by (GLOWING COLORS)

The original purpose of this HDR was that with the lighting on this day, i could not get the plane, forrest and sky properly exposed at once so i decided to take it into a HDR. The end result was interesting but was missing something, so i decided to play around with tonemapping to guive a feel of bad weather that would have forced the plane down or something like it. I did not gow with extreme colors but rather extreme contrast.

I will try it sepia or BW and see how it comes out.

Very well done! You are 100% correct, the HDR process really brought out the detail in the area around the logs in the background...excellent work! As for the drab color...I think it work very well with the subject.
