I see what is meant by glowing colors. Mainly the photo apears to have subtle HDR "halos" around everything giving it the effect that the photo is kind of glowing. Almost like a "softglow" effect if you know what that is.

I really liked this. As already stated, no it isn't realistic looking but it definately gives off a 'mood' which gives it a more artistic feel. I think perhaps it is a little too heavy on the brown tones otherwise...I love it.

Sorry about all the brown, it is fall around here so the threes are bare and if we add the sand, it is true taht there is a lot of brown and orange. also, i am starting to realise what was meant by glowing colors and will watch for it on other shots. Thank you all for taking time to comment, all of them are helpfull for me to grow as a photograph.

I LOVE this photo! I think it looks very creative... But that's just my humble opinion.

I like it. I'd try bump up the saturation a little to remove all doubts about it trying to be realistic. Might also look good toned to B&W. Another option would be to tone down the color saturation and bring up the contrast a little in PS..

HDR doesn't have to look "real" but it needs to be one or the other. People seem to love some of the way off the deep end stuff (I do) and some of the realisitc stuff looks nice too. Problem is when you get to the point where you have to ask is it impressionistic or realistic. Needs to be one or the other. This one kind of rides the fence..

You can try feeding the original photos through Hugin. It produces much more natural HDRs than qtpfsgui.

As for the composition, I'd try cropping off the bottom. It has very little of interest; cropping it will probably bring out the plane more.

I personally love the colours, but I'm a massive HDR fan.

I do however think you need some added sharpness on the plane to really bring it out, it all seems a little 'hazy'

I really like the way this treatment turned out! I have used qtpfsgui once or twice, and I like the "painted" feel the tonemapping gives. The only thing for me that makes it look less realistic, is the woodpile in relationship to the scale of the plane. Also, I am a big fan of all the earth tones. I say leave it!
