I'm new to this site, as well as serious photography. I'm learning slowly but surely though, and this site is a fantastic tool. I took this at the beach on the NC coast. Please tell me what you think

This is the same photo, just cropped and colored differently. My wife says she doesn't really care for this version as much. Personally, I really like it. So I decided to put it up here to see what you guys thought about the color and composition.

I think it is amazing what one can do with postprocessing. The two photos, while related, do not look like it. The first, you can see the ocean in the background which gives the sea oats context. The second, it is not clear where they are located nor is it clear they are sea oats and not just some other grain. I like both photos.
