Default Michigan boat 1

This boat was standing alone, far from the rest of the boats... The storm has just passed, and boats were rocking on the rapid waves. Despite how cold it looks, it wasn't that bad.. temperature was in low 70s.

slight HDR and tone correction.
exposure:
1/125

F:
13

ISO:
200

thoughts? critique? what could be done better?

thank you in advance.

Nicely composed, my eye goes right to the boat and that choppy water and cloudy sky add some textural interest.

Not too sure about your color correction, though. The blue tones seem way off and even a bit distracting. What did it look like before the color correction?

thank you for the comment ms.Saralonde.

I am afraid, i do not have the original any longer. I created another layer to reduce blues as trees seemed nearly cyan.

shot below was taken about 4 hours later, when it got a bit sunnier, so the greens are well visible (after some green saturation )

This shot is amazing...simply amazing. the compostion, the water. But there is too much "blue" as Saralonde said...if you use Lightroom use the temperature setting to correct this. Saturation might help too

While I agree that their is some color adjusting to be done, I think also you might have sharpened the photo a bit to much as the water looks a bit off. I could not do much with the posted photo as the blue hue was very prominent.

thank you all for the suggestions.

Armando, with that edit, it appears that the image became B/W, with a reds left out..

I wonder if, in your opinion, trick below would work:

1) separate reds in a different layer
2) apply warming filter...say, 15%
3) apply unsharp mask on a 3rd layer, and overlay it

thoughts?

Thank you very much Kaze..
I will try a few things tonight, if I actually make it home..

I did turn your photo into a B&W and did some selective coloring on the sailboat. The B&W was to tone down the sharpness of the water, the selective coloring was to make the subject stand out a bit more. Having said all that, photography and the processing is all subjective, whats important in the end is if you and or your clients like the end result.
