Default First attempt at vintage.

This is my first real attempt at making a photo look vintage and I was wondering what other people thought. Did I pull it off? Or is it too much?

One of the first things I'll admit is her outfit doesn't fit the mood I was going for... But at the time I was taking the photos, I wasn't thinking about making any of them vintage. Next I'll make sure she wears something that fits the mood I'm going for.

Anyway, be honest.

I think you got the mood right, but you already know, the outfit really does go against what you were trying to do.

The contrast is a little strong for my tastes (and a vintage look, perhaps) but the tone is nice and the composition is as well.

From the waist down, the photo looks decent. From the waist up...meh. The black splotches look fake and the face doesn't fit the "vintage" you have with the rest of the photo. And when you look at the larger size, the "vintage-ness" goes from tan to dark in the arms. Looks very artificial, to me.

The texture doesn't look good with bare skin in the photo. You should maybe just play with curves for the vintage effect and if you want to use a texture, use something that doesn't show so much on the skin (I always use just this kinda gray, scratchy texture that makes the photo look like its surface is scratched, check out my Flickr-stream if interested in examples).
I think the door makes a splendid background! Especially for a vintage photo. If it's possible, you should definitely use it again with a different outfit on the model. ^__^
