Default Sitting in the rain

Hi everyone, I've been playing around with HDR lately and tend to keep my shots very subtle. I wanted to experiment more and so the result of that is below.

I'm wondering if this looks overly processed? I wanted it to pop but still look realistic. Would love to hear your thoughts:

Hi bjpercy, welcome to DPS.

I guess I'm not real clear on what you want critiqued...if it's your processing, I like it. The HDR is subtle, and I tend to gravitate to a more undersaturated look, and so I appreciate the colors in this image. Also, it coordinates well with the rainy setting.

I'll keep my comments to your processing, since that's the section we're in. Just an aside, you might wanna take a sec to read the forum rules before a mods gets ya. You need to include your exif data when posting in critique, which you can add by editing your post.

All the best...

Thanks SandeeWig Yes, the processing was my question. Thanks for the feedback, I was worried I may have gone overboard with the HDR, feeling better about it now.

Its quite subtle but I think the umbrella could do with a saturation lift just to make it stand out...but thats just my opinion....Paul

I agree! That's actually the effect that I wanted and how I imagined it in post processing when I photographed it. Problem is, when I enhanced the colors in the umbrella, all of the other colors become more enhanced also, and the sky looks more blue, taking away from the effect (I only used Photomatix for this, don't have photoshop).

Any suggestions on how I could effectively enhance the colors on the umbrella only?

I use Photomatix Pro...I'll check into it, but I'm not sure if it has that option?

That's great...I really like that effect. Thanks for the visual, I really appreciate that I didn't realize how limited I've been, definitely going to look into photoshop and other options.
