I thought this turned out better than I thought it would, Does it work?
From My rose bush(I said "bush")
Model: NIKON D40
ISO: 200
Exposure: 1/125 sec
Aperture: 5.6
Focal Length: 270mm
Flash Used: No

The flower part could use more contrast. Otherwise it's nice.

For me, the flower is too dark. try lightening it up a tad and boosting your contrast. That may also be enought to bring out the tiny veins in the petals
Do you have a noise reduction program? I would try and lose some of the noise from the background. Do this on a seperate layer and then mask out the rose. That way you wont soften up your rose

All I have is PICASA so I am limited, I am saving for Elements now so I can do more with my pics. Thanks for the suggestions. I admire you pp skills. I always click on your stuff.

I really like it. For some reason the chopped off leaf on the right bugs me a little. It would be nice the crop would include the whole leaf, maybe it's just me. Nice shot!
