Default Anyone Home??

Let me say first that I am new to HDR. I understand the technique of it, but have little experience with it. This picture is my first attempt at it and while I was not trying to go for the realistic look, I personally think the end result maybe a little overkill.

I am concerned with the noise -- particularly in the sky -- and the light, but there, halo around the house. Again, I'm not going for a realistic look in this shot and would like for you to critique it based on its own merits. Either way, this house has potential regardless of artistic style.

Thanks!

The house itself is just super cool. The cartoony look is not. Sorry but the colors are far too bright.

Hi, I think it's a cool picture, some people like the painterly look and some don't. I tend to like it both ways. In your photo I love the way the HDR brings out details and texture in the siding and roof.

It depends on what you were going for. I've taken some of my HDR to this level when nothing else seems to make it stand out. Often I'll go back to images I passed up when I frst reviewed them after shooting, and play around with them and come up with something with more interest.

This is what happened with the first shot... since I hit on a very good one that day I only recently went back to the set and started playing around with another one. Then I set out to do some stiched panos and then thought the overall photos were dull and ended up several like the one in the second link. Topaz is a great add on, but I've only used it as a demo, so I'll be buying it.
