Default Over Exposed

I went archiving digging again and fell upon this drastically over-exposed shot that was never thrown out. One of my good photographer friend shoots a lot of weddings, and he often does those shots with the sun coming from behind the couple, and fills in the over-exposed areas with a soft yellow to give it some detail.

This technique seems to be getting fairly popular so I thought I'd try it out on something that wasn't a portrait to see what I could get. I would say it came out the way I intended, so I'm curious to hear opinions on the effect. Is it interesting, neat, cool, etc or scrap-worthy, and why?

This is super neat! I love the way the bridge just disappears into the light.

I quite like it - but prefer it without the stones at the bottom - it might make a really nice pano?

Without the stones would give it that creepy amazing feel to the photo, "What is that" "where is it going" "where is this place" type feel. GREAT editing. BTW. I think the rocks are completely not over saturated. They're really lovely.
