Default PUrple Waves Yellow Light

THis was during Tropical strom FAY, down at the beach near my house, don't let the picture fool you, there were some big waves, 6-8 foot waves are rare here. Forget how i hade the exposer stuff but it was a gray day and not a lot of light, but i converted it to BW and use curves in PhotoShop.(Purple was blue but it looked like the lagoona beach logo, so nooooo!!!)

I was wondering how the compostion looked and wether or not i should tone down the the light in the background(if it should be less bright, vast, and more yellow)?

I love the silouette of the tree, I think that turned out great, but such a large portion of the sky is blown out it kind of ruins the feel for me.

Someone in another thread said to paint blown out parts with light yellow to give some more detail...this could lessen the amount of white and maybe help...
