hmm.. the whole point of emulating tilt-shift on photoshop is to make it look like a tilt-shift photo, which means that the blurring should look natural... if you leave just an ellipse focused, then it doesn't properly copy what a tilt-shift would do. Or more like what a macro photo would look like.. the DOF should be flat. So, I think you should mask the photo with a gradient (mirror gradient) and then blur out the rest... so a soft band is in focus and the rest blurred.

I´m glad you find it interesting regarding the founded issues, I did some other experiments with tilt-shift but this one was the very 1st one using Bokeh from AlienSkin and as you can see, it wasn´t the greatest.

I'd suggest to keep a "band" of sharpness across image(from bottom to top) width than only an oval area.
