This is my first post on this website. After visiting the Andy Warhol museum, I was inspired to create this piece. It's my first true attempt at photo editing. I had a lot of fun making it, but I really don't know how powerful it is or if my purpose was accomplished.
I shot it with a Canon Powershot S5 IS. All four images are 4 individual images that I put together. The last 3 were cropped from different photos. Do you guys think it channels Warhol's work? Does it remind you of him when you see it? What do you think of the red in the left corner? What do you like about it? Where can I improve? I'm open to any and all comments. Thanks. ![]() Eric x 4 on Flickr - Photo Sharing! |

I think Andy Warhol was a phony.
But if you were looking to after his style, you dont have to process the photo so much with filters and effects. Someone new to Photoshop seems to make the mistake of thinking you have to put all of these filters and special effects to photos. People that use photoshop quite a bit tend not to really use these all that much. If you want to do a Warhol-ish piece. Take each photo and desaturate it. The use the artistist filter - cutout. Then do a color overlay of that layer. (sorry dont have photoshop open and trying to think of this off the top of my head) Then once you have the color overlay layer, bring the opacity down to like 50%. This will give you a closer look to the Warhol look you are going for.

Thanks for all comments guys.
Chip: Yeah, I understand what you mean. It was just something that came to me when I was experimenting and for some reason I decided to keep it. I'm glad you like it though. ryandaleySD: I know what you mean about the cutout filter on photoshop. That's not the look I was necessarily going for on this. I guess maybe I wasn't clear enough. I think I actually for the most part achieved what I intended to do. I just referenced Warhol because he's the one that gave me the idea of doing this kind of piece in the first place. Thanks for the comments guys. I'd be glad to read what anyone else has to say about my work. |
