Default Over saturated?

I tried my hands on GIMP with the few techniques I learnt on DPS.

Is the photo oversaturated? How is the composition? How could I have processed it to make it better?

I like the composition of the shot.. but like you said.. the colors are little over-saturated.. It doesn't look natural.. I never used GIMP.. but it might have something to saturate particular colors rather than the whole picture.. because I guess that's what you wanted to do..

Yes, it is too saturated. You can select certain colors in GIMP if that is what you are looking to do. Also, just my $0.02, I find the vignette a little distracting. Good luck.

Default Just a little too much

My $.002 I also agree slightly over saturated. And I would have cropped to to put the lead plane upper left, instead of taking your Eyes to center of photo

RawHulk, PowerPix,

Thanks for your comments. Let me know if the embedded photo looks better.

jbstack28,
Thanks for taking time to comment. I kept the top left to have some positive space for the aircrafts. Let me know what you think about this photo. is it better?

It is better in terms of saturation, but it looks quite dark. I think a touch of brightening would help it out greatly.

This looks better.. but I guess you can still do some minor adjustments.. Like powerpix said.. you could increase the brightness.. or fill light a little.. and then de-saturate the sky color a little.. that might have a very good contrast..

right now.. both the plane and the sky look very much of the same color.. was that the actual sky color when you took the shot.. ?

It looks a little over-sharpened too, with the second image there's a halo of 'disturbed' (for want a better term) pixels around the planes. It's one that's worth working on to get it right in my opinion.
