Default Green Rock

Not sure exactly where this belongs, but I thought I'd try here first.

Selective coloring has been around a while, and is perhaps a bit overdone, but I do think it has it's place. Just wanted your general thoughts as to whether or not you think it works for this shot, how well it was done, and anything else you think is pertinent to the discussion (composition, etc...). Thanks in advance for your comments.

I think it looks better without the selective coloring (just that slight sepia tone). The darker rock will still stand out but in a nonobtrusive way.

I like the composition and depth of field.

hmm.. Why only one stone.. what's so special about it..?

In my opinion selective coloring is used to stress the importance of some subject.. in this case.. i can see that there are other dark colored stones.. so.. why only one of them is selectively colored.. that's the question that keeps bugging me..

You might have a valid reason.. but just sharing my opinion..

Thanks to both of you for your input!

Hulk: That's a great question, and one that deserves some consideration. Any one of us is capable of standing out in a crowd, despite the similarities we share with those around us.

I'm sorry but I just had to mess with your photo and see how it would look with all other rocks light and the one dark.
