I think you came in a little too tight on the horse. I would like to see more of him/her on the card. Also you may have a problem with the lettering of the name and the phone number when it comes to printing this card. If it is going to be typeset the printer needs more space on the top, bottom and sides to set the type. Even for photo offset, some of the type it is real close to the edges for comfort.

This is the link that I used to design my cards. The template is spot on (assuming you are using photoshop). If you're not, there is still a tutorial that gives measurements for bleed and such. It will show you how close to keep your lettering. About your card in general... I like the design. Alot. Your font is a bit distracting. I find myself trying to sort everything out. Also, add a space between the * and the T's. That way they won't run together. I also agree with Trader. Pull back on the horse a bit. At first glance, I thought the horse was facing the other way .Anyway, great start. Just needs a little polish. Cheers Steve

Clean up the background a hair. You dont want plywood and a big black blob in your final product.
Aside from the font, you are going to want the phone number bigger and bolder. You dont want people to have search for it, even if it is right there, make it easy on them. You might also consider have the fonts follow the lines of the building, either straighten the building out or have your text a bit off. Try it and see. Sometimes having somethig a bit different means being remembered. Be careful tho cause it could also go the other way. Just try it and see what it looks like. Otherwise straighten out the building. Professional, expierenced services should be a little higher up I personally like the horse right where it is, I would however try and get a better shot where parts are not blown out and some parts are underexposed

Can you remove the 'black' thing on the box behind the horse? Personally - i like the horse as it is, if you can get that 'black thing out - then make the phone # really big in that space. Sometimes farriers will include what school they graduated from and/or if they do specialized trimmings. i.e.; natural hoof care - or if they specialize in a certain disipline of horse - barrel racing vs. dressage for example. Another suggestion - make the business card an appointment card also - put the appointment information on the back. Or your friend might want to order them as magnets. I love the magnet on my refridgerator for my farrier. (vistaprint.com) really cheap printing and lots of products. |

Here's a tip for ya... When you edit a picture that you originally opened a topic with, put the edit into a new reply. That way, we can see the before and after and not have to rely on memory to compare your edit to the original.
Man, I think I made that sound more complicated than it really is... LOL Steve
