I love grainy looks, but I'm not so sure about the blurry. I can kind of see the tiny rails and the blur makes it look a little too busy to me. I think I would've liked to see the rails a little more clearly, especially since the water and sky are a bit flat, the picture just feels blurry and cloudy without enough detail, but I'm not a proffesional so I don't know

I have to agree that the blurring (or camera shake) doesn't improve this image. I would also crop out a some of the solid blue sky on the top of the image, it does not add any quality.

I would actually say the exact opposite. The gradient created by the fog is really nice, and having a little more negative space would really help balance out the image. As for my opinion of what you could do next time... I think many photographers think that they need to get the entire subject into the frame, instead of making the best of what is available. I would try something like this: ![]() (excuse the poor clone job, but it gets the point across). Gives if a little more atmosphere and mood, as opposed to something that is more documentary.

I'm gonna add my voice to the "hold it steady" brigade.
The tranquil minimal scene is suited perfectly to the erie gradient in the fog and mininal muted colours. The busy/blury pier ruins that. If it had been pin sharp I'm sure you would have had a really good shot. How come its so blury given the 1/500 shutter speed you used. Is it a PP trick? |

I have proccesed the photo ... and yes... it is blurry because I applyed some blur to it. Here is the original photo ...
![]() I wanted to create a dream kind of image ... and that's why I tried to blur it ...
