Just starting to learn how to do HDR. This is my first attempt. Not looking for tips on composition just your thoughts on the HDR. (Your welcome to give me tips on comp if you like although that's not what I was aiming for here)

I don't want to over-do it like some photos I have seen.
Personally, I was pretty happy for my first attempt but then again I wonderif others may think it's too much.
I will appreciate your thoughts.

I think the processing has been pushed a little to far. An easy way to correct this is place your normally exposed image over the tone mapped image. Then use opacity and masking to tone the image down into something more realistic. I like the effect on the leaves but the flowers and background look over processed.

Yes, I agree. Even for an HDR the red/fushia colors are on the harsh side. The intention of HDR is to accurately represent the wide range of intensity levels found in real scenes ranging from direct sunlight to shadows.

Yes, I agree. Espically on the flowers. I thought they were too bright too.
I'll try again and see what I come up with. Thanks for your input.

The branches look almost like watercolor, the blur on them looks really fake and the fuschia looks a bit too harsh like the above posters said, but otherwise I think its great. The leaves look great, I love the DOF minus the watercolor look. I never would've thought of using HDR on flowers, so great idea!!
