I took this one of my kids, obviously some post production sepia type coloration but I played a bit with saturation to get the colors to come back up a bit. I'm pretty new at this, so please keep the critiques at an amateur level.
Thanks. Nikon D60, f/5.6, 1/250, ISO 200, 18.0mm fl Last edited by bandjos; 05-08-2009 at 09:01 PM. |

Could just be me, but I couldnt tell you had done any post production at all.
Two things I see are the bright areas behind the kids, they are distracting. You might try a closer crop to remove them a bit. You might also try applying a vignette to lessen the bright areas and to also bring more attention to the kids faces. Parts of thier skin are rather blown out by the sun, not an easy fix once its done. I'd reeally like to see both of the eyes in focus instead of just one. That could be becasue the aperaturte was at F5 or where you were focusing at. I know what I am thinking but sometimes putting them into words is another matter, so I hope this all makes sense. A black and white image for this might look adorable. try it!!

Thanks...
I understand what you are saying. I did go a bit too wide open with the aperture, the idea was to have a shallow depth of field, maybe another stop will be enough for next time I will try the vignette, and maybe play around with it in black and white. |
