Default Too much colorization?

This was taken a week ago and my question is if there is too much colorization? The background seems to be rather sparatic, but at the same time i feel like there is a nice kind of baron essence about it. I am from Minnesota and being spring there are no pretty colored leaves or green ANYTHING so what does one do with a bland background? Any other thoughts on editing, focus, color, composition would be greatly appreciated too! Thank you

Well... not trying to sound mean... but I'm having trouble interpreting your post.

First, you're talking about colorization, but the photo is almost devoid of color -- only the face is a really noticeable color, everything else is very subtle or b&w.

Second, the background is... sporadic? As in, mostly white with some flecks? It is "barren" I think too. But those are unusual ways to describe this.

I would say that this is an interesting, highly processed image. The harsh light and lack of color gives me a definite feeling of a difficult environment, which is good -- that's also what I think of when I see a guy carrying his mountain mike on his back!

When it comes to bland backgrounds -- I think you've done fairly well. In general, my solution is to come in closer, to avoid having the background show up at all. But what you've done here works well, because it emphasizes (what I think is) the message.

You may get more/better responses if you post this to the Critique My Shot forums.

Personally, I like the shot as it...kinda high contrast/arty look to it.

I've moved this thread over to critique. I agree with what's been said by dcclark. It doesn't seem overly colourised, but it does seem highly processed.

Great Shot! I love the composition and the colors...and/or lack there of. Well done!

The only thing that bothers me is the lack of detail on the body of your subject... seems like just a pure black hole to me. Even then it's still a great capture.

Harsh light with blocked up shadow and blown highlights is what I see. It sounds as if you were trying to get that effect so... well done.
