This is an HDR version of a shot I posted in the macro section a few days ago. This is my first serious attempt at HDR in GIMP. As you know, there is no automated process for manipulating differently exposed photos in GIMP, so it needs to be done manually. I worked for quite a while on this one.
Just looking for some general thoughts on the HDR effect itself, as well as any other comments you may have. Thanks in advance for taking a look at it.

I like the composition and depth of field in your image. I don't however think HDR helped this image at all. The tonal ranges in the image can easily be represented with a single exposer. I think your contrast and saturation may be a hair to intense as well.
Try post processing your normally exposed image instead by using curves and hue/saturation, you should be able to get better results this way.
