Default Lomo Russian Dolls

Hi Gang,

I'd love some feedback on my first shot at Lomography. I know its not a classic candid snapshot, but I thought the Russian tie-in was justification enough for the subject

Happy to hear negative or constructive feedback especially - Positive feedback makes me happy, but negative feedback makes me learn and improve.

I like the subject you have chosen to photograph with the lomo effect it works well. Depth of field looks good as well. One thing that bothers me in the image is the border, a real film based photograph with the lomo processing will have a circular vignette from the lens, since the lens is circular. The square vignette gives it away that this is a digital image processed to look like a film image.

Thank you for sharing!

Good point! Thanks for that, I'll try replacing the Vignette layer tonight with a rounded one. The only question I have is which would be better - an oval vignette or a circular one?

Either one should work see which one you prefer the best circular would be more natural.

I love the red-orange tint in the capture, plus the subjects in the image.
I agree with Murtasma, a rounder lomo would look more natural.

I like the second image better now it looks more authentic. Ho was the scene lit? One or two light sources?

Single light source. The dolls are located on a sideboard which is next to a floor-to-ceiling window. The original is quite subtle in color, the wall is actually a fawn colour, just to give you a sense of how much different the +40 saturation made

I also blured this one a little to try and get that old lens look too, so I'm not sure whether that has added the desired character to the shot or not.
