Default Shuffle Board Too Dark?

Just wanting to know if I processed this pic too dark that too much detail is gone or did I enhance the mood of the photo. I especially like the male on the left adjusting his glasses and watching from the shadows. What do you think?... Should I have changed the colour of the red cups? This wasn't a set up shoot, just one from a costume party I was at.

Overall I think it is a good shot. I would copy the male to a new layer and bring out the highlights on him though. That area of the image is a little too dark.

BryceCS3,

Thanks for the input. I'm still trying to teach myself PSE6. How's this strike you? Too much highlights, too little or just right(for your taste)? I wanted him a little darker than the female since he was further away from the apparent light source. Did I pull it off?

Any further comments please let me know!

Thanks!

I think you are very close! I would tone down his highlights a bit - he is so highlighted that he almost appears to belong to a different image... so my vote is for something inbetween the first and second image.

Thanks t blanchard! Yet another reason I love this fourm. The hardest thing for me while PPing photos is learning the subtleness of the effects. I tend to overdo most effects. Thanks for your help to rein me back a bit. Take 3:

The Ringer Highlighted take 2

More than the first and less than the second.
