Looks like you did a good job on that. You could try cropping in a bit closer to lose a bit of the distracting detail in the background. Maybe just losing the sides to a portrait orientation. Actually, it you do that I think cropping just a little of the top too to lose that bit of shelf above her head would be good.

Would you crop so the little girl is centred? Or keep her to the left or right of the pic?

What an adorable little girl!

I agree with the others on the crop. Looks like you did a great job on the technique of selective coloring. It's fun to see the results.

Have you considered allowing your daughter's entire body (shoes and all) to be in color? I'm assuming you want the little girl to be the focus of attention and not the dress.

Selective coloring is a great and interesting technique, but special attention needs to be paid to what the viewers' eyes will focus and settle on.

Let us see how the shot ends up!

I agree with dlaf - the idea is a good one, but it might be nice to see the little girls skin and hair in colour too. That was the literally the first thing that I thought.

I agree with the crop idea, but might I suggest a more square-ish format?

Not to beat a dead horse, but ditto.... let the whole girl be in colour and crop the sofa out.

Too bad there isn't a fire going - that would look fantastic to add colour too as well (I know -- everyone's a critic).
