Ok, so I am trying to do some closeups lately for fun and this is of my little sister. My problem is she was wearing a white scarf and I feel like that takes away from the picture too much. Unfortunately when I crop it I loose the feeling that I like from the picture. With corel I try to change the color and it changes all the white. I am such a novice!! Any suggestions on what to do about that? Or maybe it isn't even that great, I just love her eyes in the picture. Thanks everyone so much for the input.

I agree with you that the white scarf takes over the photo. Have you tried using your colour replacer tool in Corel? I use Jasc PSP9 and I assume that the version of PSP by Corel still has the colour replacer. Using that, you will only replace the white pixels you mouse over.
Photographically speaking, I can't really help with the photo because I am a novice myself. |

I've never used Corel but, in addition to russcott's suggestion you could do a non-destructive version of that technique. Just create a duplicate layer and use your colour replacement tool just on the area of scarf on the top layer. You may have to be careful around areas of the hair on the left in case there are any blown out areas that may change as well.
All that said, I don't think it is too distracting IMO. There is a little over exposure but you will soon get the hang of that. The best thing about it is you haven't got her face slap bang in the middle of the frame. I good use and example of the rule of thirds.
