Default Solitude Reading

Hi, I took this snap by placing the book near a window and processed it in Photoshop-filter render "after noon 2'o clock" to give it a mystical solo reading feeling. Please comment on, whether, does the snap creates a mood in line with the title of the book(with the light and shadow effect) and also tell me about the two sprouting buds in the background.

I personally think the idea is great but the background with the colorful materials and tulips do not convey the same message.
Maybe try reshooting against a dark wood grain or concrete floor?
The flowers are competing to be the focal point when I look at it...very distracting.
I think if you play around with different backgrounds you'll get the mood and feel you're going for.

I agree - the contrast between the mystical, and the domestic feel of the table cloth just seem a little out of kilter.

Not sure what to suggest... a plain background? a sparkley or bokeh background? Smoke and mirrors?

I agree with the above. The cheery summer tablecloth does not invoke any mystic feelings, but rather a strong desire for hotdogs. If I may give some unrequested advice as well: Flood the book with more light or pop the camera on a tripod and increase your shutter speed and drop that ISO down. You've got some really, really heavy noise, to the point of the heavy contrast white to brown lines outlining the text becoming undefined.
