Default Actor "creative" headshot!

I've wanted to try someting like this ever since I saw Joe McNally's capture of actor Steve Martin in his book "The Moment It Clicks"(pg105). Although, McNally did his shot on film and double exposed I thought I'd try my hand at p.p. to attempt to get a similar effect. What do you think?

B.C. Headshot happy-sad

I cleaned up both shots before blending them together. I dodged some catch light in the smile face and added a "spotlight effect" to attempt some drama, bright on the happy side and darker on the sad side. Comments and critiques welcome!

I gotta say I think its cool idea and with the right facial expressions and textures and what not it could look quite freaky!
I think the concept was executed really well! I like the sad face looking towards the darker area of the shot and the birght eyed face looking into the light....really shows expression well.
I might have to play a bit with this idea and see what CS3 and I can do with it!

!
100% agree.. very well done.

my only thought would to allow for more blur between the joint of the two heads or add a motion blur between the two.
ask sime to see his LOTR Golum shot.. i think its a similar concept.

I would try lightening the "happy" side of his face a bit. Overall it's a little too underexposed for my tastes. Most actor headshots are printed out too. Try printing the shot and see how the exposure works in a more physical form.

Very cool idea!

I like the concept too. It looks to me like your spot light is not aimed properly (I understand it was added PP). It looks like the spot light is aimed down at an angle that hits the background above and behind his head, with some spill that goes down the background behind him. It doesn't look to me like he is "in the spotlight," so to speak, but rather "in front of and below the spotlight." But cool idea with the happy/sad face thing.
