Default The Witch's Hat - Tonemapped HDR

Haven't done anything HDR like in a while. Took this today on a hike, had to prop up the camera with my bag and jacket. Taking off my jacket was no fun because it was about 30 deg. F and quite windy. What do you think?

I like it, because the HDR effect is very subtle, but very effective

Ooooooh I like it. Well done

One thing I was wondering was if the pylon looks a bit odd. I don't mean the smaller one but rather the larger one right behind the witches hat. I wonder if it might look better cloned out? I'm not sure if it would be possible to take again but stand in a slightly different position so that the pylon falls behind the witches hat? This might also get the structure out if the middle of the frame and place it into one of the sweet spots. Either way its a lovely image and the pylon is just a thought. Its still better then what I could do LOL.

I may try cloning it out. Made me mad that there were power/phone lines everywhere up there, including an AT&T 3G tower (which gave me a nice signal). So everywhere I go there would be some sort of power line.

Thanks for the comments.

What do you think leaves a lot of doors wide open. lol
I like the fact that you didnt make it look all cartoony, now if you want to talk about composition..........
Try to do an imaginary tic tac toe grid when you are shooting and place the main points of your focal point on the main lines of that grid. rule of thirds
I just think it would add more interest if the building were not right in the middle and didnt have power lines sticking up from behind it

I really like the shot. Where ever did you find this place? I'm in PA too and that looks like a very interesting structure to photo.

It is on Neversink Mt. near Reading, PA. The Berks County Conservancy has more info. It is referred to as "Reading's other mountain" because of the more famous Mt. Penn.

I would rotate it so the roof line and steps are more or less horizontal, crop in to put the building at the right third line and get rid of the rather unappealing grass at the bottom and clone out the electrical stuff.
