Post Another attempt at B&W Conversion, Does it work?

Took this is October and finally got to posting it. I was going for the Ansel Adams look but with more grain. Black and White is really what I enjoy but prefer processing the color out in the darkroom.

Did I get close? Thanks in advance for your input.

Mike

Nice attempt.
I feel like the subject is somewhat lacking, maybe due to not enough contrast and the dull sky.
I find the slanting horizon line somewhat disturbing.
And I think the focus is too far forward. For a shot that goes to the horizon, you need deeper focus. The lines in the picture lead the eyes up the draw (or down) towards.......out of focus hazy stuff.
