Default "Geek Industrial"/Light HDR -- Seeking General Thoughts

This is the first image I took with my 60mm Prime Macro lens -- because I took this as part of my "Geek Industrial" series of photos, I wanted to try to keep it looking sterile and impersonal, but still with a bit of vividness, hence the HDR.

So, general thoughts on the composition, subject, theme, technique -- whatever. This is my first SLR and I've really started getting into photography about two weeks ago.

It's very interesting, technically and aesthetically

I can't decide if its out of focus, or thats just the surreal HDR effect, I do like it.

If anything, I would have centered the subject more, it seems to be slightly skewed

I cropped off some of the right hand side -- apparently not enough. The focus is actually on the lens of the camera on the inside of the sphere. Most everything else was intended to be DoP'd out, but I do think that the HDR helped a small bit.

Thanks!

For something this simple, the centre positioning would be ideal: as such its a bit to the left.

Looks good though!

Thanks -- cropped it down a bit to center it.

I would probably do a multiple take on this... focus on the lens, and then focus on whatever is reflecting in the cover... then overlay the two images and mask where necessary... there is alot going on in that reflection and I want to know what it is!...

Now if thats not what you are looking for then I would take this camera to another environment where there isnt so much stuff going on...

Neat idea, interesting subject.
Unfortunately, none of it seems to be in focus.
I agree with the 2 images layered (not HDR)
I'd do one focusing on the chips/internal lens, another focused on the reflection. Overlay the reflection and reduce it's opacity/erase as needed.

OR, an HDR with the images taken with much greater DOF.

Now, I'd never thought of that overlaying two differently focused images -- interesting! I did want to get the row florescent lights to try to invoke a bit of a feeling of tech/sterility/inhumanness.

Great suggestions all around though... thanks!
