Useless photo to something useful

Hi,
I remember taking this photograph way back and I felt it was useless because it was extremely under exposed and did not have anything great. I tried editing it later and this is what I have now.

Is the contrast and lighting any better? Is there anything distracting. Does the photograph appeal or is it too dull.
I used windows gallery editor to adjust the the contrast and brightness. I also change the photograph into sepia.

By the way, forgot to mention that I had just a moment to capture this. The kid was running and very busy and couldn't get much control over the composition and lighting. He was running around under the shadow the trees and we had very dark clouds that day.

If you "see" deeper than the aesthetics you'll see that your photograph has a lecture. At first galance and for some people it might look bored , not my case I like it but it's my very personal opinion.I'll leave it just like that !
