Default Newbie seeks advice on tilt-shift effect

Clubhouse at Bridges, San Ramon

Been working on the tilt-shift effect using Photoshop Elements 10. So far the experimentation has been poor (you can see trials on flickr) but this one is the first one I'm somewhat happy with. What I'd like feedback on is: color saturation, contrast, cropping, and any other observations you care to share. I've also discovered that the nature of the capture has a lot to do with whether tilt-shift will be successful, so ideas on that would be helpful, too.

Nikon D3100 (purchased 12/11)
Nikkor 55-300 1:4.5-5.6 VR
1/15
f22
55mm

Cheers,
Dave

your colors are fine - over staurated works well with fake T/S. Problem is the angle of view. You need to get higher and shoot down on the subject.

Default good thought, zona...

...it felt high when I was shooting it but by the time I cropped it down it seemed flat again.
