Nice result. Some of the yellow lights look a bit blown out - was this from a single exposure or multiple ones merged in Photomatix?

I like it. Love the sky. Broken the rule of thirds but it actually works. Goes to show that rules can be broken some times. I'd also be interested in seeing the road more central and red lights on the right hand side just for comparison.
Where would i improve? Maybe back off on the yellow on the left and right hand sides so that the motorway is more the focus and pops. Also watch your horizon, slight tilt on it but i'm nit picking. |

Love this image and what you've done with it. Many congrats!
There are some good articles on DPS on the rule of thirds (recommended) and I've been practicing with them recently (moving key elements of the photo, such as people or the horizon in your shot, to a third of the way up, down or across the shot). It certainly changes the impact and how people look at the photo and also breaks the habit of slapping things dead centre and getting everything symmetrical. That said, it's good to have a mix it up and not to get stuck in one way of doing things. Ultimately, whatever works best for you and your shot is the way to go. And besides, you could have shot this from many angles and altered the processing in many ways and to different degrees. But you chose the subject and effects and did a great job. |
