Post Over exaggerated contrast in skyscape?

Hello I am new to the forum and am trying to improve upon my photography and photoshop skills. I was shooting skyscapes at the beach this week and processed the raw images to have a bit of an extreme contrast in B&W. Does it work? I greatly appreciate any input whether you are a pro or just bought you first camera Thnx

P.S. The blocky distortion in the dark cloud that frames the top of the shot is not prevelant in the high quality version

Nice shot. It has more contrast than I would personally prefer. The birds are a nice touch. It's tough to get a good composition with clouds as your main subject, although you have done well here. Cloud shots usually need something on the ground to anchor them. Here is an earlier thread with tips on shooting clouds. I would pay attention to what navcom says.
