Default Tilt-Shift

I was searching online for tilt-shift lenses for my Canon, and decided I cannot afford the real thing. I then found an article about Simulated tilt-shift using Photoshop Elements.

I searched all my pictures for something I could try this with, and this is what I came up with.

Question: Do you think I achieved the tilt-shift effect with this picture?

it generally works better from a higher perspective. Use the search feature and you'll find some other posts with examples to see what I talking about.

Yeah, I know. Only problem is, I don't have any pictures that were shot from higher ground (or floor) that would work. I only have pictures of river valleys and there's really nothing interesting in them to really work with. If I can, I'll try someday to photograph some kayaks/canoes on the river and see how they turn out.

So what do you think of this picture? Does this look like tilt-shift at all?

I'm not an expert on tilt-shift, but I think you captured the spirit of it. Well done Would you mind sharing the tutorial you used? D'oh... never mind, just realized there was a link up there.

I would say it looks more like selective focus - limited depth of field than tilt shift.

Yes, I think it definitely does. I think it's harder to tell on your own work. Simply because you've looked at it for too long while editing.
