Default HDR - Bike in basement

Hey everybody,

some time ago I was shooting in my basement and looking for texture and grungy look. I thought it is a good location with a lot of potencial. Anyway I found there a bike and tried to make an image including this bike in a scene. What do you think about it?

Do you like the leading lines on the door heading towards the center of the wheel? What about perspective and angle? I wasn't able to get wide enough but would you be OK if top of the bike was cut off? What do you thing about processing?

For me the lines on the door aren't that strong of a compositional element. They also have to complete with a very busy scene. I think the image may have been better if you left the bike out. The bike I feel does not really add anything to the scene and if anything distracts from the interesting grungy elements in the scene. This looks like a work area to me. I think if you focused on the work bench and creating an interesting compositing with the tools you could have had a stronger image that tells a story.

The story I get from this image is the bike of the person who works in this space. Personally I would rather see the tools and grunge surrounding the workbench. The wall and celling have some good texture on them that tends to work pretty well for these stylized images. The new bike set against all these grungy element doesn't really do much for me. That's not to say juxtaposing something new with something old isn't a good compositional element but the image needs to be focused with clear intention when doing something like this.

Putting the bike against a really grungy wall may have accomplished that better.

You didn't ask for critique on it, but I need to say that your HDR processing is exceptional.
