I quite like this B/W conversion BUT...
Are the roof & chimney too burnt out? Think I know the answer to that one & I know that the wall in the foreground is too dark! Is the picture interesting enough to go back to the RAW & do a -1, 0, +1 HDR in Photoshop? This is a cropped version of the picture so if I re-do it has anyone got any suggestions of similar images with totally, utterly perfect composition? Or just comments on the current composition.Exif Pentax K-x Exp: 1/250 F4.5 ISO 400 Focal Length: 28mm |

Have you considered cropping down to the top of the sindow to remove the burnt roof?
I don't do HDR so I can't comment about that. Could you try a ND filter in your software?

Having thought about it a bit I think the building's good, or essential, for a gothic sort of feel? I probably need to get more of the roof & chimney in & to darken the sky & get the foreground wall readable as more than just overly dark shadow. I think it works in BW though? I was lucky that the central subject stands out so nicely.
Thanks for your thoughts H. The only thing I need now is a better cushion for my computer chair so my circulation is re-established |
